Ultimate Motivational Tips and Tricks
It has
reached that time of the year again, the time where we all start to burn out
and every sort of motivation goes completely out the window. Well at least that is how it usually goes for
me, however, this year I have decided to do the complete opposite and try
extremely hard to get my life together. My new techniques for feeling motivated
have been working very well for me, so I thought it would be helpful if I
shared them with you in a blogpost.
Making an Inspiration Board
This is my
favourite thing to do if I am feeling a little unmotivated or uninspired as not
only is it nice to have a visual representation of your goals, it also helps to
get creativity and motivation flowing. I like to fill my inspiration board full
of pictures from my favourite bloggers and makeup artists, my monthly goals and
a monthly calendar to keep track of important dates.
Inspirational Quotes
Inspirational
quotes are something I live my life by, I’m sure there is a quote for almost
every situation. It is important to find a quote that is most relatable to you
and remind yourself of it every day, whether it be sticking it on your wall or
just repeating it to yourself over and over. A few of my favourites are;
-
“Ever
Tried. Ever Failed. No Matter. Try Again. Fail Again. Fail Better” – Samuel
Beckett.
-
“Always
Bring Your Own Sunshine” – Unknown
- "Oh my God, what if you wake up some day, and you’re 65, or 75,
and you
never got your memoir or novel
written; or you didn’t go swimming in
warm pools and oceans all those years
because your thighs were jiggly
and you had a nice big comfortable
tummy; or you were just so strung out
on perfectionism and people-pleasing
that you forgot to have a big
juicy creative life, of imagination
and radical silliness and staring
off into space like when you were a
kid? It’s going to break your heart. Don’t let this happen." - Anne Lamott
Creating Goals
Having a
goal to work towards is always a great way to keep your motivation levels to a
high standard, whether it be a career goal or a personal goal. Personally, I
like to create short term and long term goals to achieve as it means you have
something to be working towards every single day. For example, a two-year
career goal I am working towards is being an assistant makeup trainer and a
short term much more easily achievable goal that I keep every week is to upload
a blogpost every Tuesday and Friday.
Making a Mini Time-lapse
I realise
this one sounds a little weird, but setting up a mini time-lapse of yourself
working towards your goals or finishing your work can be extremely satisfying.
Before I start writing a blogpost or tidying up the house I will quickly set up
my phone on time-lapse and get going! It also helps in keeping you on track and
not procrastinate as you become very aware that there is a camera on.
Stalking Studyblrs
If you have
never delved into the Studyblr community on Tumblr, you are missing out. It is
full of Pinterest worthy stationery, organised journals and inspirational
quotes. If I ever feel like I can’t do something I will quickly jump on and
have a little stalk (let’s be honest it’s more than a little stalk). My
favourite studyblrs to motivate myself with are; elkstudies,
theorganisedstudent and medstudie.
